About the role

As a Senior Legal Counsel at Tyro, you will report into the General Counsel and form part of a close-knit team. The Legal Team works closely with all of Tyro's business units and is regularly involved in cross-functional teams working towards delivering new product and solutions for Tyro's customers.

What you'll do

• Provide accurate and timely counsel to executives and business stakeholders, covering a variety of legal areas, including financial services, commercial contracting, privacy, data and intellectual property.

• Work closely with Tyro's business units to deliver new products and initiatives.

• Review and advise on commercial contracts and marketing materials.

• Monitor developments in the legal and regulatory environment.

• Assist in the development of policies, procedures and training programs for staff on relevant legal issues.

• Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations.

• Communicate and negotiate with counterparties.

What you'll bring

• 7 - 10+ years post-qualification experience.

• A current NSW practising certificate.

• The ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and escalate matters where appropriate.

• Experience in providing commercially focused legal support.

• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate to people in a range of positions.

• A keen interest in process improvement and efficiency - including the adoption of technology-enabled solutions.

• Proven in-house legal experience is highly regarded.

• Demonstrated legal expertise in financial services law is highly desirable.
