About the role
The Head of Product, Merchant Experience & Onboarding leads the charge in revolutionising how merchants and partners engage with Tyro. As the driving force behind our onboarding, merchant and partner experiences, you will lead a team of world class product managers to make it as easy as possible to sign up to Tyro and try out or portfolio of products with the least amount of friction as possible.
Your team is responsible for the onboarding experience for small, medium and enterprise customers along with the product activation flows for our channel and ISV partners. This team is also responsible for the primary web, mobile and app interfaces used by these groups when using and configuring our different payment products. With a focus on driving new sales, cross-selling, and self-service, this role plays a pivotal role in taking our customer engagement to new heights.
What you'll do
Product Development and Management
Develop a strategy and prioritised feature roadmap for Tyro’s onboarding and merchant experiences, working towards the realisation of a consistent and elegant experience for customers throughout their journey with Tyro and across products.
Collaborate with Product team colleagues, including Head of In-Store, Head of Online, Head of Banking, Head of Accounting and Head of Design to build an integrated digital offering for customers.
Your team owns our onboarding platform, ensuring all application types can be completed seamlessly for customers.
Deliver on opportunities to empower our customers to self-service where appropriate.
General
Lead a team of Product Managers and related roles, fostering their development and monitoring their performance.
Partner with various teams and colleagues across Tyro to implement your strategy and achieve Tyro’s business strategy.
Oversee relationships and contracting with a range of third-party partners required to realise the digital strategy.
Provide updates to senior leadership and the broader business on the performance of Tyro’s digital products based on defined metrics.

What you'll bring
Proven experience in a senior product leadership role, ideally within fintech, payments, SaaS or another highly regulated, customer-centric environment.
A strong track record of owning and delivering end-to-end customer journeys, particularly onboarding, activation or self-service experiences, with a clear focus on reducing friction and improving conversion.
Demonstrated ability to define and execute product strategy, translating business goals into clear, prioritised roadmaps that deliver measurable commercial outcomes.
Deep understanding of digital product development, including web and app experiences, with a strong appreciation for UX/UI and the role of design in driving customer engagement.
Experience leading and developing high-performing product teams, with a focus on coaching, clarity of direction and accountability for outcomes.
Strong commercial acumen, including experience managing or contributing to P&L outcomes and using data to inform decision-making and prioritisation.
A highly collaborative approach, with the ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across product, engineering, design, sales and operations.
Experience working with third-party partners and vendors, including managing relationships and negotiating outcomes that support your product strategy.
A data-driven mindset, comfortable defining success metrics, analysing performance and using insights to continuously optimise the customer experience.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate strategy, progress and outcomes to senior leadership and across the business.
A passion for delivering simple, elegant customer experiences in complex environments, with a bias for action and continuous improvement.
