About the role
The Senior Accountant, Reconciliations ensures financial data accuracy by matching transactions across multiple systems, investigating discrepancies, and resolving imbalances. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will define and build processes and systems surrounding reconciliation.
You will be part of the Financial Control team whose purpose is to own and execute accounting activities for Tyro, support the production of accurate and timely financial information for internal and external use, as well as maintaining and ascertaining the integrity of accounting records to meet accounting and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do
Perform reconciliation design and discovery for new products, features, and current transaction flows.
Analyse system behaviours and data outputs to determine how transactions should be reconciled.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies, breaks, and unmatched transactions.
Liaise with internal teams (Finance, Risk, Tech) and external partners to resolve reconciliation issues.
Perform monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts including chargebacks, scheme receivables, declined reversals and merchant accounts.
Create and maintain clear documentation (process maps, data dictionaries, reconciliation process notes).
Partner with Technology and Product teams to develop and enhance processes and systems that drive reconciliation automation and improve control effectiveness.
Identify gaps in reconciliation processes and design controls to mitigate financial or operational risk.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
Support internal and external audit processes.
What you'll bring
Relevant tertiary and professional qualifications (CA, CPA or equivalent).
Proven experience (typically 2 plus years) as a Reconciliation Analyst or similar role.
Well-developed communication skills and ability to solve problems with consideration to business impact.

Excellent time management/planning skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
Experience in payments acquiring industry ideal.
Experience in ERP accounting systems is ideal.
Highly proficient in Excel.
Experience with large data sets and databases such as Snowflake and MySQL.
Proactive and eager to learn and adapt to new challenges.
