About the role
The Engineering Manager – Growth Platforms is responsible for leading and driving the technical strategy, delivery, and ongoing optimisation of all platforms that underpin the organisation’s Growth function (Customer Service, Marketing, Sales). This role oversees a cross-functional engineering team that manages and evolves a diverse ecosystem of platforms, including Salesforce, telephony systems, NPS, Martech, Reporting, Commissions, Customer Hub and the public website (Tyro.com).
As a key technology leader, the Engineering Manager ensures these platforms operate reliably, scale effectively, and enable the Growth team to deliver exceptional customer experiences and achieve business objectives. The role balances thought leadership, strategic planning, technical solutioning, delivery excellence, and operational support, while fostering strong collaboration across internal teams and external partners.
What you'll do
Strategy & Roadmap
Define and execute the strategic vision for Growth platforms, aligning technology initiatives with business goals.
Partner with Growth, Product and Technology leaders to prioritise platform enhancements and integrations.
Identify opportunities to streamline systems, drive automation and improve performance across the platform suite.
Understand and assist Growth with business requirements and drive the 6 monthly planning cycle
Solution Design & Delivery
Oversee the design, development and implementation of scalable, secure, and reliable platform solutions.
Ensure architectural integrity, integration quality, and technical excellence across all Growth systems.
Champion agile delivery practices to ensure high-quality releases that meet stakeholder expectations.
Platform Operations & Support
Maintain platform availability, performance and security through proactive monitoring and continuous improvement.
Lead the resolution of critical incidents, ensuring minimal business disruption.
Establish and manage SLAs, documentation and operational best practices.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Build and manage relationships with key technology vendors and partners, ensuring optimal service delivery and value.
Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance in line with organisational objectives.
Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to ensure platform capabilities meet business and customer needs.
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation and collaboration.
Promote continuous learning, technical excellence, and alignment to business outcomes.
Provide clear direction, performance feedback and career development support.
What you'll bring
Proven experience managing technical teams responsible for enterprise platforms including CRM, Martech, NPS and Reporting.
Experience owning end-to-end delivery of complex technical products, from strategy and architecture through to production operations.
Demonstrated success in long-term technical roadmap planning aligned with company and product strategy.
Prior experience influencing cross-functional executives (e.g. Product, Design, Data, and Operations).
Experience hiring, mentoring and growing engineering leaders and engineers.
Background in driving architectural evolution and technical excellence at scale (e.g., microservices migration, platform modernization).
Experience working in regulated, high-availability or mission-critical systems
Experience in vendor management and stakeholder engagement at a senior level.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Performance Indicators
Platform Reliability & Performance: Core systems (Salesforce, Telephony, Customer Hub, etc.) operate within agreed SLAs, with minimal downtime and strong data integrity.
Delivery & Execution: Projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, with measurable improvements in stability and user satisfaction.
Strategic Alignment: A clear roadmap aligns platform evolution with Growth and business priorities, driving automation, integration, and efficiency gains.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management: High satisfaction from business stakeholders; vendors meet performance expectations and deliver value.
Team Leadership: A motivated, high-performing team with clear goals, ongoing development, and strong engagement.
Operational Excellence: Efficient support processes, proactive issue management, and adherence to documentation and compliance standards
