About the role
Own a coherent, executable technology strategy and target architecture for Tyro’s web and mobile channels, ensuring cross-channel consistency, reuse, and alignment to enterprise platformisation. This role partners with business and product counterparts to keep digital architecture aligned to business strategy, while also owning the engineering “paved road” needed to deliver with speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
What you'll do
Partner with business and product leaders to translate channel and customer-experience priorities into an executable digital technology strategy, measurable outcomes, and sequencing.
Own and evolve the digital target architecture for web, mobile, and channel integration patterns such as BFF and edge, including the roadmap for modernisation and architectural debt reduction.
Define and drive cross-channel patterns for journey composition, navigation, state management, error handling, resilience, and secure-by-default practices.
Shape and maintain the shared digital platform capability set, including identity integration patterns, feature flags and experimentation, analytics and instrumentation taxonomy, notifications patterns, and release/versioning strategy.
Build and maintain the paved road for digital delivery through shared libraries, reusable components, reference implementations, templates, and developer enablement.
Support the operationalisation of engineering standards for digital channels, including performance budgets, accessibility, observability, test strategy, CI/CD and release practices, versioning compatibility, and production readiness expectations.
Run lightweight, early digital design reviews for major cross-cutting changes such as app shell, auth/session, analytics/instrumentation, frontend architecture shifts, and BFF strategy changes; capture decisions and drive adoption.
Partner with Solution Architects, the Principal Architect, Security, Platform teams, and Data/Information Architecture to ensure domain capabilities are exposed cleanly via consistent contracts and that digital patterns support enterprise platformisation.
Stay close to delivery by helping unblock complex design and implementation issues, reviewing critical changes, and feeding learnings from incidents back into standards and the roadmap.
What you'll bring
Proven experience defining and evolving architecture for modern web and mobile platforms, including channel integration patterns such as BFF, edge, or API orchestration.
Strong ability to translate business, customer, and product priorities into digital technology strategy, target states, and sequenced roadmaps.
Deep understanding of digital architecture patterns across web and mobile, including modular UI architectures, shared component strategies, identity/session handling, and cross-channel reuse.
Strong experience building or governing engineering paved roads, including reusable libraries, templates, standards, and reference implementations.
Solid grasp of engineering quality concerns for customer-facing channels, including performance, accessibility, resilience, observability, security, testing, and release management.
Experience driving cross-team technical alignment and design decisions across engineering, product, architecture, and platform stakeholders.
Strong working knowledge of API-first and event-driven integration patterns, and how digital channels should consume domain capabilities cleanly without tight coupling.
Ability to create clear architecture artefacts and technical guidance that teams can adopt pragmatically, not just conceptually.
Demonstrated ability to stay close to delivery while still owning strategic direction, roadmap, and debt reduction.
Nice to have
Experience in fintech, payments, or other regulated digital environments with strong security, compliance, and customer experience demands.
Familiarity with digital identity, persona-aware experiences, customer context, and role-aware channel design.
Experience with design systems, mobile/web shared component models, or digital platform teams operating at scale.
Familiarity with analytics instrumentation strategy, telemetry standards, and digital event taxonomy.
Experience with architecture governance practices such as ADRs, design reviews, or lightweight architecture forums.
Understanding of enterprise platformisation, domain-aligned architecture, and how digital channels should align to reusable backend capabilities.
