About the role
Translate business strategy into an executable technology strategy and target states, and ensure Tyro’s most important cross-domain programs deliver coherent end-to-end outcomes. This role aligns domain architecture roadmaps to enterprise priorities, drives platformisation and reuse, and manages architectural risk and debt so the organisation can ship faster with lower long-term cost.
What you'll do
Partner with business, product, and executive stakeholders to translate business goals into clear technology priorities, target states, and sequencing.
Own and evolve enterprise target states, architectural guardrails, and standards, especially around platformisation, reusable APIs/events, shared capabilities, and cross-domain integration.
Consolidate and align domain architecture roadmaps into a coherent enterprise view, identifying dependencies, duplication, gaps, sequencing risks, and architectural debt priorities.
Drive portfolio-level prioritisation of architectural initiatives so enabling work, platform uplift, and debt reduction are visible, funded, and planned.
Lead end-to-end architecture for major cross-domain programs, including key flows, interfaces, interim states, non-functional requirements, and migration/cutover approach.
Facilitate cross-domain architecture decision-making through focused working sessions, clear trade-off articulation, and lightweight decision records.
Maintain practical enterprise architecture artefacts such as capability-to-platform mappings, system landscape ownership views, and decision logs that support delivery and planning.
Surface and manage systemic architecture risks across domains, including data consistency, security, performance, operability, and migration readiness.
Coach and align Solution Architects and specialist architects through shared practices, architecture forums, and lightweight guardrails.
What you'll bring
Must have
Proven experience translating business strategy into technology strategy, target states, and sequenced roadmaps.
Strong experience leading cross-domain and end-to-end architecture across complex programs, products, or platforms.
Deep understanding of enterprise architecture, domain boundaries, platformisation, reusable APIs/events, and integration patterns.
Strong architecture roadmapping capability, including debt management, dependency mapping, and prioritisation of enabling work.
Experience facilitating senior stakeholder decisions and resolving trade-offs across product, engineering, and business groups.
Strong grasp of system-level non-functional concerns including resilience, security, operability, scalability, and migration risk.
Ability to create clear, practical architecture artefacts and communicate complex ideas simply to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated leadership through influence, including coaching architects and senior technical stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
Nice to have
Experience in payments, fintech, banking, or other regulated environments.
Familiarity with business capability modelling, lifecycle assessment, target-state mapping, and strategic technology planning.
Experience with architecture governance approaches such as ADRs, architecture sparring, or lightweight design review forums.
Familiarity with digital channels, data/reference models, or enterprise systems-of-record design.
Understanding of modern delivery and platform patterns such as API-first, event-driven architecture, cloud-native platforms, and paved-road engineering practices.
