About the role
The Head of Banking runs Tyro’s banking business with accountability for the banking P&L including the end-to-end delivery of Tyro’s banking strategy, product design, customer experience and go-to-market initiatives. The role directly leads a team of product managers and works cross functionally with Tyro’s technology, growth and risk teams to grow the banking business.
Tyro's banking proposition is live, growing, and sits at the strategic heart of what we're becoming. You will inherit a plan and be expected to evolve it, bringing proven experience and a strong point of view on what will make Tyro a leader and innovator in SMB banking.
What you'll do
Banking Strategy and P&L
Own the banking business unit P&L; driving gross profit, managing costs, and building multi-year financial plans in close partnership with the finance team.
Define the shape of Tyro's banking proposition; which products, in what sequence, for which customer segments, with a clear view on what drive the most value.
Stress-test and litigate the exisiting plan, bringing a strong point of view backed by experience, market insight, customer data, and commercial analysis.
Identify the smallest, highest-impact set of product bets and hold the line on focus when competing priorities arise.
Go-to-market Initiatives and Growth
Define the product strategy for the banking proposition - including value proposition, target segments, and commercial priorities - to contribute to broader marketing planning.
Work closely with the Marketing and Sales teams to ensure product priorities and roadmaps are incorporated where relevant within positioning, go-to-market planning, and campaign development, in the context of broader brand, customer, and business priorities.

Product Leadership
Lead a team of 3–5 product managers responsible for building and optimising Tyro's digitally-driven banking products.

Collaborate within the Product team and across Tyro to deliver a coherent, integrated experience for customers across payments and banking.
Provide regular performance updates to senior leadership based on clearly defined product and commercial metrics.
Executive & Stakeholder Engagement
Present the banking strategy, performance, and outlook confidently to the board and executive leadership team.
Build strong, trusted relationships with risk, compliance, finance, and GTM leads; influencing outcomes across functions where you don't have direct authority.
Represent the banking business internally and externally with clarity, credibility, and conviction.
Oversee relationships and contracting with a range of third-party partners required to realise the digital strategy.
What you'll bring
Proven experience owning a banking or fintech P&L; ideally in a challenger or growth context where you built the commercial playbook, not just inherited one.
Deep familiarity with retail or SME banking products; deposit products, lending, transaction accounts, and a genuine point of view on what wins in market.
End-to-end banking literacy; able to understand and engage with risk, compliance, treasury, and operations even where you don't own them directly.
Strategic marketing experience in financial services. You have built a growth strategy and guided a team to execute it. You are not a marketer by trade, but have proven experience of successfully taking products or solutions to market.
Product leadership credibility; you have led product managers before, understand what makes a great digital product and user journey, and hold your team to a high standard.
Strong commercial acumen, including experience building and defending multi-year budgets and using data to drive prioritisation and investment decisions.
Executive presence with a highly collaborative approach; able to present to and push back in a boardroom and influence and align senior stakeholders across functions where you don't have direct authority.
Performance Indicators
Banking P&L performance against plan; gross profit, net revenue, and cost targets on a quarterly and annual basis.
Customer acquisition and activation metrics for banking products; new accounts opened, activation rates, and product adoption.
Multi-year budget accuracy; quality and credibility of financial forecasts submitted to the board and finance team.
Product roadmap delivery; velocity, quality of customer experiences, and reduction in user journey friction.
Team health; Product Management capability development, engagement, and retention within the banking product team.
Ensuring all Tyro’s banking products are compliant with relevant financial and consumer regulation.
