About the role
As a Solution Architect within Tyro's Payments domain, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of how millions of card payments are processed across our merchant network. You'll combine long-term architectural thinking with hands-on solution design, partnering closely with Product, Engineering and Technology leaders to evolve our Payments platform while supporting the delivery of strategic initiatives. This is an opportunity to influence the direction of one of Tyro's most business-critical technology domains while working on modern, cloud-native architecture.
What you'll do
Shape the long-term architecture and technical direction for Tyro's Payments Acquiring domain.
Partner with Product and Engineering teams to design solutions for strategic initiatives from concept through to delivery.
Collaborate closely with fellow architects across Customer, Banking, Data and Platform to deliver seamless end-to-end payment experiences.
Help evolve our Payments Channels architecture, covering terminals, eCommerce and API capabilities.
Guide technical decision-making by balancing delivery speed with long-term maintainability and architectural quality.
Own and evolve the Payments domain target architecture, including service boundaries, integration patterns, data ownership and modernisation roadmaps.
Support the continued evolution of cloud-native services, APIs, event-driven integration and resilient distributed systems.
What you'll bring
Deep experience designing solutions within Payments Acquiring or card processing environments.
A track record of balancing architecture strategy with hands-on solution design.
Experience working within product-led engineering organisations rather than pre-sales or consulting environments.
Strong knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, microservices and modern integration patterns.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence engineers, product leaders and senior stakeholders.
A collaborative approach and the ability to work across multiple architecture domains.
Experience working within Financial Services, FinTech or another regulated technology environment.
