About the role
As an Android Engineer at Tyro, you will play a key role in shaping and evolving our mobile applications. This is not a narrowly scoped role as you will work across Tyro’s modern Android stack and take ownership of the systems that power our mobile experiences end to end.
You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions, contributing not only to Android implementation but also to broader system design, API integration, and operational quality where needed.
What you'll do
Design, build, and maintain high-quality Android applications using modern Android technologies and best practices.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate business and user requirements into robust technical solutions.
Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions to ensure long-term scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Write clean, well-structured Kotlin code and participate actively in code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
Integrate mobile applications with backend APIs and services, ensuring performance, security, and resilience.
Own quality throughout the delivery lifecycle, including testing, CI/CD, release, and post-production support.
Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across the mobile stack to maintain application stability.
Stay current with Android platform developments and proactively suggest improvements to tools, processes, and architecture.
What you'll bring
Deep expertise in the Android SDK, with strong experience in Jetpack Compose, ViewModels, StateFlow, Coroutines, Navigation Component, and Dependency Injection
Proven ability to design and deliver complex Android solutions using MVI / MVVM, following SOLID principles to ensure maintainability, scalability, and testability (Orbit MVI a plus)
Interest in shaping our to shared codebase strategy with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP)
Commitment to writing and maintaining high-quality automated Unit and UI tests
Practical experience with Gradle and GitHub Actions, and confidence owning the entire SDLC
Strong understanding of API design and RESTful web services
A mindset to fully own solutions end to end, including contributing to the backend systems when needed.
Previous exposure or interest in backend technologies such as Spring Boot and AWS, as well as CI/CD and DevOps.
