About the role
We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded Banking Team Manager to lead and scale our Business Loans function. This is a critical leadership role within our Growth team, responsible for driving lending performance, building strong customer and stakeholder relationships, developing a high-performing team, and ensuring we continue to deliver fast, responsible and customer-focused lending experiences.
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Accounts, you will lead the team responsible for engaging Tyro business customers, identifying lending opportunities, supporting the loan application journey, and working closely with Risk, Product, Sales and Account Management to grow a healthy and sustainable lending portfolio.
This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who brings strong commercial judgement, lending experience, people leadership capability, and a passion for helping Australian businesses access funding.
What you'll do
Lead, coach and develop a team of 6 Banking Associates
Set clear goals, expectations and performance rhythms across customer outreach, pipeline progression, application quality and funded loan outcomes.
Run regular team meetings, coaching sessions, pipeline reviews and one-on-ones to drive accountability and momentum.
Build a team culture focused on customer outcomes, commercial ownership, disciplined execution and continuous improvement.
Identify capability gaps and provide targeted coaching to improve performance.
Support the team to prioritise their work, manage customer follow-up and progress opportunities through the lending funnel.
Own the team’s lending performance across lead engagement, application conversion, funded loan volume and new and repeat borrower activity.
Monitor daily, weekly and monthly performance metrics to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
Coach the team on proactive outbound engagement, consultative customer conversations and effective lending eligibility discussions.
Ensure the team is consistently identifying and progressing qualified lending opportunities within Tyro’s existing customer base.
Partner with Account Management and Sales leaders to increase referrals and strengthen the connection between payments, banking and lending opportunities.
Step into key customer opportunities, escalations or complex conversations where leadership support is required.
What you'll bring
Growth of lending portfolio with an increase in new borrowers and repeat borrowers.
Ensuring a satisfactory loan approval / loan funding, with a minimal loan default rate that’s well within tolerance.
Growth and uptake of Banking suites such as Tyro business accounts, term deposits and debit cards.
Effective management and mitigation of risk to ensure a balanced portfolio.
Ensure adherence to compliance, regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Client satisfaction, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and addressing any concerns promptly.
